According to the Artist

In 2016, Spiller created a group of pared-back portraits of much-loved and lifelong friends, painted directly onto raw canvas. The characters carefully selected for his “last supper” included Mickey Mouse, Felix, and Pluto, among others. Spiller was beginning to feel older, and this was often echoed onto his portraits of Mickey Mouse. Once an ever-youthful, ageless character, Mickey began to show signs of the ravages of time as Spiller cheekily included a few crow’s feet and toothless wrinkles, but constantly reaffirmed Spiller’s mantras: “Take a walk on the wild side” and “Stay forever young.”
