Sculptor Gino Miles: Master of Metal

  • Long-Sharp Gallery 1 North Illinois Street, Suite A Indianapolis, IN, 46204 United States (map)

Gino Miles has been sculpting for over 45 years.  Despite the fact that he was classically trained in Italy, was co-founder of Italart (a sculpture school in Italy), and lives and works in Santa Fe, New Mexico, he has some surprising ties to Indiana.

Miles' first solo museum show ended at the Polk Museum in Florida in January of 2018, but one of his early works resides in the permanent collection of the Evansville Museum of Art, History, and Science. In his early years, Miles trained with several important sculptors, including Allan Houser, who created "Morning Prayer", the sculpture in front of the Eiteljorg Museum in downtown Indianapolis. Miles has large-scale figurative works across the country - a national landmark in California [the Grape Crusher in Napa Valley] and several figurative works in the collection of Walt Disney [Seven Dwarfs at Walt Disney headquarters]; Miles' largest mobile sculpture is hanging in Noblesville, Indiana after it was commissioned by the owners of Performance Marketing Group.
