In Tandem focused on limited edition and unique prints by Alison Saar, Suzanne Caporael, Sam Gilliam, Dan Rizzie, Judy Pfaff, and Swoon. Collectively and, in some cases, individually, their works may be found in the permanent collections of the most important museums exhibiting contemporary works worldwide, including the Art Institute of Chicago, the Chazen Museum of Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Hirshhorn Museum, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, among others.

The name of the exhibit, In Tandem, rests in the fact that works by the six exhibiting artists were created in conjunction with Tandem Press. Founded in 1987, Tandem Press is affiliated with the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is one of only three professional presses in the United States connected to a university.
