Forms | Shapes

  • Long-Sharp Gallery 1 North Illinois Street, Suite A Indianapolis, IN, 46204 United States (map)

“Forms | Shapes” explored art beyond color, inviting collectors to view the shapes and forms that serve as the foundation for works of art, rather than focusing on the pallet used to give the works their color. The nine-artist exhibition included works by blue chip artists Victor Vasarely and Robert Indiana.  Freestanding sculpture by Vasarely, Gino Miles (New Mexico), Thalen & Thalen (Belgium), Dale Enochs (Bloomington, Indiana), and Mary Pat Wallen (Warsaw, Indiana) served as the cornerstone and most logical foundation for the exhibit.  Wall sculpture by the United Kingdom’s Chris Bracey (found objects including neon) and Alex Echo (whose milled wood frames inform the composition) added to this category.  Works on canvas exploring form were limited to new paintings by Stutz artist Amy Kirchner (Indianapolis, Indiana), as well as one work by David Michael Slonim (Anderson, Indiana).
