Reflections on Soda Fountain

In 1988 Lichtenstein began work on a group of Reflections paintings, in which the central image is partly obscured by reflective streaks, as if behind glass or reflected in a mirror. Printmaking was a large part of the Reflections series. Work began at Tyler Graphics in 1989 with seven prints from this series which combined lithography, screenprint, and relief with collage among other methods. Two other prints on the subject were in the works and completed by the end of 1990: Reflections on Soda Fountain (begun at Gemini GEL in October 1990 and published in the spring of 1991) and Reflections on Expressionist Painting (Staff Tech Arts).[1]

All of these prints were created in small editions: Tyler Graphics (editions of 68 + proofs, Corlett 239 -245); Gemini GEL (edition of 85 + proofs, Corlett 257 ) and Staff Tech Arts (60 + Proofs, Corlett 255).
