The People
“The diameters of the concentric rings and corresponding discs are calculated algorithmically in such a way that they overlap seamlessly as they grow outward and upward. The contemporary form is juxtaposed with the use of ornamental motifs, some of which date back to the 15th century and come from a number of sources including Ottoman and Persian. This piece is comprised of nearly 1,000 individual parts in card, paper, and mylar and is assembled entirely by hand in a complex collaging technique."
